ALBANY, NY (WRGB) — March is Women’s History Month and today at the New York State Museum they are celebrating women in science!
The free family friendly event will have exhibits where kids can touch and learn about mollusks.
There will be several panels where you can chat with scientists from the museum who are making groundbreaking discoveries every day through their research’
Families and science enthusiasts of all ages are encouraged to check out the series of hands-on activities and interactive displays created by pioneering researchers from the Museum’s Division of Research and Collections.
“So our goal is always to be engaging with our young audience members, getting their interests up, having them have these hands-on opportunities to actually see what a scientist does.” says Kat Morehouse, Coordinator of Public Programs at the NYS Museum.
This marks the first time the event is being held since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Denise Mayer, Curator of Malacology says her favorite part of her job is scuba diving; “I love going into large rivers and scuba diving under the water being able to observe. I always see something that’s new and different and exciting.”
There will be representatives from the Museum, State Department of Environmental Conservation, State Archives, and the Netherland Research Center.
