KAYSVILLE — The Kaysville Fire Department is set to receive a new heavy rescue engine. But there’s something about this engine that sets it apart from any other truck in Utah.

The new heavy rescue is a Quantum chassis from the Wisconsin manufacturer Pierce. That in itself isn’t too remarkable — the department said this will be their fifth one in operation. But Pierce recently discontinued the Quantum, meaning Kaysville’s new truck will be the last one ever produced for a Utah fire department.

“Pierce created a custom ‘Last Quantum’ emblem for Kaysville Fire, now proudly displayed on the cab,” the Kaysville Fire Department said on Facebook. “We can’t wait to welcome the new heavy rescue to Kaysville in just a few weeks!”

The Kaysville Fire Department said on Saturday that its leadership team went out to Appleton, Wisconsin, this week to make a final inspection of the vehicle. The “Last Quantum” will make its way from Wisconsin to Kaysville soon to help save lives.
