Zeihan talks about how Romania, Poland, Slovakia will soon get conquered, everyone in the comments takes it as pure truth, am I missing smth? He’s smart for sure but the way he talks about things sometimes makes me wonder how much of a drama queen he is versus actual geopolitical guy, thoughts?

He sounds confident and smart until he talks about something you know firsthand. Then you realize he’s just shooting the breeze.
Poland would crush the Russian army at current in a defensive war, that’s how bad it is.
He discusses very relevant geopolitical influences (but not at any deep level). However, when it comes to predicting future events, he’s more often wrong than right, especially around military goingson
Take him with a massive grain of salt. China has been imminently collapsing for decades with this guy.
The EU would smash Russia in a straight up conventional fight.
He’s been huffing that colorado mountain air for too long and is beginning to get hypoxic.
“China will be gone in 10 years” is gonna bite this guy in the ass so hard.
no one said anything about them being soon conquered, but if Ukraine loses? that’s on the table for sure
Before he was saying Russia could not possibly supply and defend Crimea from Ukraine. What does he think changed?
His point is about choke-points that Russia has seek to control to defend its territory in the past.
You could make the argument that, because of nuclear weapons, that strategic imperative doesn’t longer apply, but other theorist speak about the possibility of two nuclear powers fighting a regular war because none of them will use nuclear weapons if the other has them too.
Russia needs to finish Ukraine first. Moldavia is next and Baltic states after that. It is not in the interest of Ukraine to end war on Trump’s and Putin’s terms.
You are missing all. This is trash talk + bots.
That’s the guy that is predicting the imminent collapse of China since 2005. 20 years of bold and wrong predictions, saying what the public wants to hear.
He is a smart idiot.
Which video?
Interesting hot takes. I enjoy his channel and read his latest book. That being said, he is not the end all be all
The way the world works that he describes makes a lot of sense, but he’s not good at applying his own theories to reality. He has clear biases that I think he’s not aware of, and it makes his predictions worse than they could be.
He’s an influencer posing as a geopolitical expert. There’s definitely some agenda he’s pushing.
He’s been wrong about literally every single prediction
Peter made one good point about demographics over a decade ago, and has been milking it over and over by re-releasing the same book every so often.
He’s a smug know-it-all who has little insight into most issues that he talks about. Russia isn’t going to invade a NATO country, even if the USA leaves.
He always speaks in hyperbole, I like his analysis but I don’t think he is being too serious when he makes predictions.
He thinks Poland was part of Soviet Union and that Nvidia’s GPU chips are mostly used for AI. He has some interesting insights though.
He was wrong about the election, and he was very wrong about electric cars, specifically LFP chemistry for cells, for a guy whose job it is to make predictions, he’s not great at it, and I say this as a fan.
He is not a guru but a door-to-door salesman now, not at first, though.
He is a victim of his algorithm.
He has to sell and amaze.
By now, many in his field consider him mon, and academically he is insignificant.
Poland easily conquered?
Only if Russia is helped, but on the ground, by the USA.
On the one hand, when he talks about Israel I’m cringing from the inaccuracies (I’m Israeli) which makes me doubt him generally.
On the other hand, I think he sometimes comes up with overlooked possibilities, that are I don’t hear from other people, and occasionally they happen to be true.
The power of being able to articulate and confident. He’s a really good salesman of wacky geopolitical ideas.
