German anti-nuclear culture is wild, I am only half autistic (other half is Italian) and even at 30 yo I can’t understand how an entire nation could gaslight itself so much into making all the wrong decisions energy-wise.
We didn’t shut down our nuclear power plants because of tchernobyl and Fukushima, we shut them down because they became too old and expensive to maintain. We didn’t build new ones because of tchernobyl and fukushima
we used to have a great clean energy industry (especially Solar) until the coal lobby made the government burry them in bureaucracy so the majority of that industry got sold to china.
i would not be surprised if the coal lobby used the chance and funded most of the anti nuclear campaigns that followed chernobyl and Fukushima.
Last panel should be “still buys nuclear power from france because the grid would collapse otherwise”
Sometimes Reddit shows me some German speaking Reddits, and frankly as soon as it starts talking about nuclear power it’s scary to see: the amount of misinformation I’ve been able to read…
Hey hey hey hey, not all of germany failed! Lower Saxony runs almost completely on green energy.
If the Bavarians behaved and implemented the green energy as they were told to, they could too, then the energy-cost would also be down.
Also the CDU happened, and they lover their coal-money.
This sequence is incomplete…
Start importing large amounts of electricity from neighboring countries. Causing prices to spike (especially in Scandinavia).
When countries start to take measures to prevent the German energy lunacy from hurting their own citizens. Drag them to the European court and beat them over the head with EU free trade regulations.
Added German troll bonus. When Sweden is forced to divide itself into electrical areas to keep up with supply (causing prices in the south of Sweden to spike instead of for the entire country). Refuse to do the same, because quote: “it would increase prices in the south of Germany”…
I love you guys, but goddamn you make me happy the French are leading this union and not you.
Nuclear energy is simply too expensive when compared to other sources of energy. I agree that the CDU did a dreadful job, as they often do.
And no, France isn’t doing particularly well with its nuclear power plants. It’s the taxpayers who end up footing the bill, and the energy is incredibly costly. Moreover, it’s not as reliable as people might think. One summer, they had to reach out to Habeck and ask for wind and solar-powered energy from Germany because it was too hot for their nuclear plants to operate effectively.
From a scientific perspective, there are many more issues to consider. But if you’re looking for clean and affordable energy, nuclear power is not the solution.
The dumbest thing we did, wasnt going away from nuclear enegy tho. It was doing nothing energy wise for 40 years.
What happen to a nuclear power plant if and when US and Russia bomb the hell out of it?
Totally understandable if you don’t like nuclear power etc but shutting it off just out of ideological fear and not having a backup plan is stupid especially considering the fact that coal is somewhat radioactive too!
This bullshit is getting old.
It’s wrong on so many levels. Nuclear is not an option right now. It’s too expensive, the electricity is only affordable because of massive subsidies and industry has no interest in building new plants. Even France is starting to realise this.
Gives the trolls material for nice memes, though ..
Come on, you want a mob of angry Germans explaining how a Green Party reopening old coal plants doesn’t signal a failure of energy policies at this time of the morning?
Yes, bash France and Poland. What was the topic again?
Also, start tearing down the most newly build and cleanest coal powerplants first.
We are producing more green energy than ever but let’s not talk about that…
I’ve been with German men. They are so repressed they literally are too much for my bum sometimes.
free your self from the shackles of the past and take your place as a confident leader the world needs rn. Xx
Oh look, the nuclear troll lobby is at it on reddit again. Must be Tuesday.
To me, ultimate proof they’re far from the “clever engineers” they want us to think they are.
OP when he makes a meme about the German nuclear power situation, turns on his reddit notifications and shoves his phone up his ass: 😎
God I’m so tired of this idiotic bashing. It’s practically disinformation.
How many countries did fourth panel include? That’s like half of Central Asia
Love it how every Germany and nuclear are coming up everyone is just talking about the ‘ideologic greens’ ignoring that the energy suppliers had and still have a profound disinterest in nuclear energy.
You forgot to mention that they buy energy from us. Made with our nuclear system
Oh no Germany the nation who produces the majority of its electricity via clean sources, soooopo much dirty coal plants here … damn make at least the barest minimum of research before spouting nonsense like this.
Hans would much rather keep digging his little coal hoal
Ah. It’s Nuclear Energy Astro Turfing Tuesday again…
Can‘t wait for France to urgently request eurobonds when they‘ll have to start replacing their old ass NPPs for 100 bn€ a piece just so that they can have energy that‘s more expensive in operation costs than wind&solar. And just for your information, Poland builds a NPP to gain the ability for nuclear weapons in the future. Economically speaking it‘s the dumbest choice for energy production one can make

Looks like it’s doing alright to me
