Welfare Minister Reinis Uzulnieks said: “The birth of triplets is a special and moving event not only for the family itself, but also for the whole of Latvia. This is a moment that inspires and strengthens faith in the future of our country.””

Since 1993, families with triplets have been provided with a one-time social benefit. It is intended as material support for families with triplets, taking into account that the simultaneous birth and care of three children entails significantly higher additional expenses. The benefit is not subject to personal income tax and the payment of the benefit is made by the Welfare Ministry.

In 2013, the lump-sum social benefit was paid to one family, in 2014 – to five families, in 2015 – to three families, in 2016 – to two families, in 2017 – to two families, in 2018 – to four families, in 2019 – to one family, in 2020 – to one family, in 2021 – to one family, in 2023 – to three families. In 2024, the lump-sum social benefit was not paid at all.

On Thursday, March 27, at 12:00, the minister will congratulate the family in person on a visit to the Riga Maternity Hospital.
