Lord Sugar is set to shock viewers of this week’s The Apprentice episode – with a cheeky Prince Andrew gag in the boardroom

The business brain, who has been knighted in the New Year Honours list of 2000 for services to the Home Computer and Electronics Industry, did not hold back when mocking contestants using a facial steamer in a task.

Lord Sugar said: “You ended up with the face spa right? I didn’t see you use it. I saw the steam coming out of it. Half an hour of that would even get Prince Andrew to sweat.”

In response, Baroness Brady turned her head and appeared to look at Lord Sugar in shock and whilst others in the boardroom laughed, contestant Dean Franklin said “woah” seemingly taken aback by the gag too.

In a 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, Prince Andrew claimed he couldn’t sweat due to a medical condition, which he said was an “overdose of adrenaline” from the Falklands War, contradicting Virginia Giuffre’s account of him sweating during a dance. Giuffre claims she danced with the Duke before going back to Ghislaine Maxwell ‘s house on the night of March 10, 2001.

There have subsequently been photos published which appear to show the Prince sweating.

There is plenty to laugh about in the latest Apprentice task as both teams try to sell items on a shopping channel including an inflatable canoe boat.

The teams have to choose products, pitch for star items and take on presenting or gallery roles.

Lord Sugar is not impressed at the choice of the canoe and says: “They’ve missed the boat with this one,” as they struggle to sell the item.

A reviewer in the Radio Times said: “One candidate could be the Tommy Cooper of teleshopping; their vacuum cleaner demonstration is so unbelievably bad it’s almost good.”

Lord Sugar is seen watching the task on a shopping channel with his grandson Joe who could be a future boss on the TV show if he continues his early success. Joe was plucked to head up Amstrad Digital at the age of just 21 last year by Lord Sugar, who clearly has a soft spot for the lad.

Speaking last year, Lord Sugar insisted he did not prepare his jokes. He said: First of all, my jokes are spur of the moment.

“If I knew what they were and what the scenarios are, I could perhaps explain it.

“But they do roll off my tongue and they just come out as we are going along. This is not a scripted show.”

In the 2024 series he said to pie firm boss Phil Turner : “Your grandma started making pies in the Thirties? They must be a bit stale by now.”

And he poked fun at fitness coach Sam Saadet by saying: “You call yourself the Del Boy of business. Is that because you’re a plonker?”
