The percentage of households in Canadian cities that are “minimal household units”: single-person, couples, couples with children or single parents with children. More people than ever are living with extended families or lots of roommates, particularly in the most expensive markets.

  1. I live in a single detached by myself. I shut down our office in 2018 and told everyone to work from home. I like dead quiet when I sleep so I doubt I’ll ever have a roommate. Back in 1993, I lived in a 500 square foot one bedroom in Vancouver with 3 other people. My bedroom was the dining room 😅. Canadians should visit (or look online) Hong Kong to understand how lucky we are.
