The Danish Energy Agency (DEA), the Embassy of Denmark, and the Hai Phong Department of Industry and Trade jointly organized a training program on offshore wind power (OWP) development at the Hai Phong Convention Center on 25-26 March 2025. The program aimed to enhance knowledge and capacity for officials from various departments, agencies, and relevant organizations.
The training was conducted in a hybrid format, with in-person and online participation. Attendees included representatives from the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Hai Phong People’s Committee, and various municipal departments, agencies, and businesses involved in supporting industries, logistics, and port operations. Representatives from the Departments of Industry and Trade of Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Ca Mau, Thai Binh, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, and Quang Tri joined virtually.
The training was part of the Vietnam-Denmark Energy Partnership Program (2020-2025), which supports Vietnam in developing a low-carbon energy roadmap. The program covered key topics such as OWP technology, planning, business opportunities, legal frameworks, and permitting processes. Additionally, international experts shared insights on provincial-level management, including infrastructure and port requirements, grid connection, environmental and social impacts, and policies to foster OWP industrial hubs.
With its strategic coastal location, Hai Phong Province is considered to have significant potential to become a leading logistics and service hub for offshore wind power, serving both domestic and international markets while contributing to Vietnam’s green transition and sustainable development.
