police arresting scammers on westminster bridge

  1. I wish they’d ban any form of “business” legitimate or otherwise operating on the bridge; and/or actually enforce it. It’s always so busy, and a huge spinning camera recording podium thing blocks half the pavement.

  2. I still cannot believe the audacity to scam people in Westminster Bridge right in front of the parliament.

I hope they keep the area clean from these scam artists.

  3. Finally, but I won’t give them too much credit since Scotland Yard is but a few metres from the bridge and the amount of robbery, phone thefts and scams happening right next to the Met hq really says a lot about the way they care about crime in London.

  4. Oi I have that same jumper. Shout out Super Superficial. 🙌🏻

  5. A few weeks ago I took my kids on the Eye so we were walking along Westminster Bridge. I stopped at the first ball and cup game and explained to my kids what was going on.

They were surprised people were falling for it. So I further explained that within the crowd would be a one or more plants to try and garner interest from bystanders.

Then my son shouts ‘I think he’s one of the scammers!’ Points at a guy in the crowd! Thank goodness it’s so loud as I don’t think they heard. But as we walked along the bridge 12 cup and ball games later my kids were saying ‘it’s a scam’ at each one.

Crazy that they must be making enough to warrant doing it every day. I hope this works to prevent it.

  6. I was in London last May, ironically for my Met assessment when I decided to cross the road with the intention of visiting new Scotland Yard when the rose scammers got me, declined but made the mistake of glancing at her when she started her song and dance over dropping the rose. She came up through the crowd to hit me after I walked away and initially thought nothing of it but in hindsight, should’ve reported it, just seemed trivial. Very much lives in my head how brazen these people are.

  7. Good, but this is a very long running and slow burn operation. It’s been going for years and I predict won’t be successful for years either. Personally what I really get annoyed by is the crowds and obstacles created by this medieval period scam and the gawkers.

  8. Good to see. The group around the Eiffel Tower seem to be untouchable.

  9. I cant believe people fall for this but this is good to see

  10. Oh I guess someone’s report from 30something years ago finally arrived to the police! I thought it won’t happen in my life…

  11. Keep it up. That bridge is a nightmare when it should be a source of national pride.

  12. About time, tho the rose scammers on the bridges are a lot worse, imo….

  13. London is now the same as Paris, full of Albanian and Romanian scammers and pickpockets in organised gangs.

  14. I once thought I saw Teller the magician on Westminster bridge, I was very sure and afterwards checked and they were doing shows in the uk at the time so yeah pretty sure it was him. I take photos and tried to take some of him to check later, he was wearing baggy jogging bottoms and was dressed so casual. Anyway, he walked past one of the cup people and stared for a bit, and as I aimed one of them yelled at me like ‘why are doing that? Stop’. I sort of tried to tell them I wasn’t aiming at them but they didn’t understand.

You can tell that’s a true story because it’s boring isn’t it.
