I’m very surprised there was only a 13% drop considering that the people most likely to buy Tesla’s are also the most likely to be offended by his actions and statements. He’s gotten off easy and these losses will certainly be offset by govt contracts.
I imagine many people who buy Tesla are left-leaning and one of the factors in purchasing one is wanting to reduce emissions.
By becoming the unelected (far) right-hand man of one of the most despised leaders in modern history, he has positioned himself in direct opposition to the values of many in this potential market.
Trump is winding back any progressive policies on climate, from removing the popular EV tax credit to emissions reductions on vehicles.
Add to this, the fact that Musk is a massive cunt, altogether it’s a fascinating case study in the destruction of a global brand.
I know I was considering a Model 3 in November and I’m getting my BYD Seal AWD this Saturday. Can’t be the only one who thought “they’re better on the hardware side and I won’t be driving a Swastikar with a troubled future”.
In France most Tesla chargers (all?) are open to all cars as they should be, so the biggest argument outside of the car itself is moot.
And Teslas run on BYD batteries, talk about endorsing the competition.
