Perhaps reflecting on the last few weeks, Princess Beatrice told interviewers that ‘nothing’s more important than family’.
Sat atop New York’s most iconic monument, the Princess spoke of her love for the city, having previously lived in the Big Apple in 2015 after securing a job as Vice President at software company, Afiniti.
‘I had the opportunity to live here for a couple of years,’ Beatrice recalled, ‘so I’ve got some wonderful best friends, some fantastic local haunts that I really enjoy.’
After her move to the ultra-trendy Meatpacking District, Beatrice rubbed shoulders with the city’s most glamorous residents, including supermodel Karlie Kloss and singer Taylor Swift. She even made her debut at 2018’s Met Gala, in a floor-length chiffon Alberta Ferretti gown. Her move to the city came at a turning point in the young royal’s life, she said: ‘When I was figuring out my life and what I wanted to do, New York gave me a place to kind of have a job and get on with it.’
Princess Beatrice married property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020, at Windsor’s Royal Lodge. The Princess gave birth to her daughter, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, the following year. Reflecting on her time in the city, she continued: ‘New York has always been such a special place for me and also for Mum as well. I mean, you know, she came out here and started her charity back in the day, so New York for us has always been a great city to spend some time in. But now – very happy to be back in the UK with my family.’
