According to Belarus’ Foreign Ministry, preserving the memory of the heroes of the past is not only a tribute, but also the basis for building the future. Respect for history is a sign of strength of spirit and maturity of society.
“One can only wonder where the Estonian politicians would be today and under what flag if it had not been for the heroic deeds of the people whose monuments they are so thoughtlessly and shamefully demolishing, and in what future they are leading their country,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry noted.
According to RIA Novosti, employees of the Estonian War Museum destroyed monuments commemorating the Red Army fighters who liberated Estonia from Nazi occupation on the territory of the Tallinn Military Cemetery.
