In answer to a parliamentary question raised by the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP), PM Luc Frieden stated that the new building erected for the future Grand Duke is entirely funded by the Grand Ducal family themselves.
The new dwelling is placed within the territory of Castle Berg, the rightful home of the Grand Duke as instated by the law.
Considering that the hereditary Duke cannot choose where to live with his family, the ability to live on the territory of Castle Berg is nothing more than a symbolic contribution to their new home.
Furthermore, the Grand Ducal family is paying for the construction themselves, confirms PM Luc Frieden.
The commune of Colmar did have to adapt their General Development Plan (GDP), though it still conforms to their regulations. The commune appears to be having more leeway than expected when it comes to new developments.
