  1. The First Minister will jet off to the United States later today to take part in the annual Tartan Day celebrations.

The Scotch whisky industry is expected to lose millions as a result of the 10 per cent tariffs slapped on all goods exported from the UK across the Atlantic.

  2. Well if John, the rest of the SNP, and Scottish people want to eat all the chlorinated chicken the Americans want us to take to reduce the tariffs on his whiskey, he should let Starmer know. I’m sure the PM will be delighted to relay the news to Trump and co.

  3. No plans just means one does not have current plans, of course new plans can be made sometimes even, on the hoof

  4. Things are reserved for the UK government when it suits the SNP.

  5. $3 on a $30 dollar bottle ain’t gonna stop ‘em buying it.

  6. Mostly sensible.

A pedantic point on the ‘we can take no relief’ regarding the 10%, well we kind of can, it’s perfectly rational to be relieved we didn’t get doubt the tariff rate like the EU got. I guess that wouldn’t sit well with the narrative.

  7. He’s got no plans to meet trump or his people because he ain’t important enough to get a meeting with them

  8. Don’t even meet him when he comes to the UK. It should just be starmer and silence.

  9. Why would he meet Trump officials anyway? He has no power to do anything that would convince Trump to lift them

  10. Why would he meet with US govt? SNP doesn’t represent Scotland in foreign affairs, the UK govt does.

No reason why the US govt would have any interest in meddling with him either.

  11. Scotland and its domestic administrators have no business speaking to any foriegn government. That is the job of the UK government and foriegn office

  12. Why on earth would any world leader want to waste time meeting the “leader” of a tin pot non entity lol

  13. Sure John. It was you that made this decision.

  14. You’ll be fine mate, just demand more from England.
