BIGBANG’s Seungri Claims He Is NOT Leaving Korea, Gives First Interview After Prison Release In Burning Sun Scandal Case
Seungri to stay in Korea
Speaking to Ilgan Sports, the disgraced idol denied recent reports claiming he had moved to China to start new business ventures. “First of all, the talk about me leaving Korea is not true,” Seungri stated firmly. “I’m currently living in Korea, and most of my overseas trips are because I’ve been invited to friends’ weddings or to take personal time off. Other than that, I’m not having any business meetings or planning anything elsewhere.”
The former singer also shut down speculation that he might be plotting a return to the entertainment industry. “They say I’m still interested in the entertainment business, but the fact is that I have no such plans whatsoever. The only recent interaction I had with someone from the entertainment industry was having a meal with people I used to work with, reminiscing about old times.”
No secret business dealings for Seungri
Photos of Seungri spotted abroad, particularly in China in December 2024, had sparked rumours of secret business dealings. However, he clarified that his trip was purely personal. “It’s all rumors and gossip. Because I have many acquaintances overseas, people seem to assume I’m planning something abroad, but that’s not true—I have no business plans. My recent visit to China wasn’t to attend a club event or to start something there. I went solely to attend a friend’s wedding. I have no intention of starting anything again,” he explained.
Since completing his 18-month prison sentence in February 2023, Seungri said that he is not engaged in any economic activities. “I’m mostly spending time with my family and just living without doing anything.”
Seungri’s statement marks his first public effort to clarify his post-prison life and put an end to ongoing speculation surrounding his whereabouts and intentions.
