Submission statement: Student-led anti-government protests have paralyzed Serbia since November, bringing hundreds of thousands of demonstrators to the streets in the fight against corruption and autocracy. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has tried to quell the protests through censorship and violence, but has so far failed to suppress the greatest wave of unrest seen in the country in 30 years.
*[NOTE: I am also the author of this article. For context, the National Post is one of Canada’s largest newspapers, and I’m one of their political columnists. I’m also ethnically Serbian and am currently in Belgrade reporting on the protest movement, so this article is informed by actual experience. My name is in the post title because Canadian newspapers generally require that opinion pieces include author names in their headlines, and I’m obligated to use the exact headline as the submission title.]*
The west’s continued use of colour revolutions and transparent aid for regime change operations is exactly why the rest of the world considers it so untrustworthy. Then they cry when other nations (read china and india in canada) do the same to it.
Civil war on the way…
Please please please 🙏
The good old tried and tested “student protest” colour revolution tactic. If you allow foreign NGOs and agencies to operate in your country then you deserve all you get tbh
