  1. Side note, don’t fucking go swimming in Shadwell basin, you idiots.

  2. If you don’t know how to swim……dont go swimming!!

  3. Gotta wonder why people who can’t swim jump into water

  4. I don’t know why people comment on something that they don’t have the information needed, let’s just say I knew the boy. He was a very good swimmer and he knew how to swim.that day was not his day.rest in peace young man you will be missed

  5. >And the Met’s Marine Policing Unit (MPU) says it is called to more than 140 incidents each month on the Thames alone.

    That’s surprisingly high

  6. Poor lad, poor family…I’ve got nieces & nephews same age, can’t imagine even coming to terms with something like this happening.

  7. Removing compulsory swimming lessons from schools, new ‘leisure centres’ are overpriced, and often unavailable for young adults, and no public information films. Young people will press boundaries sometimes, including taking risks.
It’s beyond awful that this young man has died, but teaching about water temperatures, unseen dangers and the risks involved would be a good outcome.

  8. Water temperature may have contributed to shock or cramp . Even swimmers can come unstuck .

  9. The poor boy. Was this at the swimming lake? If so then it needs further investigation as they’re meant to be life guarded sessions.
