Two sublime free-kicks from Declan Rice helped Arsenal to an important win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday night.
The England midfielder curled two stunning strikes past Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, before Mikel Merino added a third for the Gunners with an instinctive finish into the bottom corner.
Mikel Arteta’s side now take a healthy advantage to Madrid for the second leg of the tie, and the Spaniard will be desperate to see his side progress into the last four of the competition.
In the meantime, it has emerged that the North London side are interested in a Croatia international.
According to TBR Football, the Gunners are interested in Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Martin Baturina, 22.
The attacking midfielder has impressed for the Croatian side this season, scoring six goals and registering nine assists in 37 matches across all competitions so far.
It is claimed that Arsenal’s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, is keen to add a winger and an attacking midfielder to Arteta’s squad, as well as a striker.
Arsenal’s scouts are said to have watched the young midfielder while on international duty for Croatia against France in the Nations League.
He did, however, see his penalty saved as his side were defeated in a shootout in the quarter-finals of the competition.
Baturina is under contract with Dinamo until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but the report claims that Arsenal could attempt to lure him away from Zagreb and to London when the transfer window reopens this summer.
Current Arsenal midfielders Jorginho and Thomas Partey have both been linked with moves away from The Emirates this summer, hence Berta’s interest in bolstering the squad in that area.
