Good. Nobody should be Italian, better start closing any possiblity. First kill any way young italians can think about building a family, then stop anybody from coming in Italy, finally this. Perfection!!
LOL r/juresanguinis is full of savages coping
its so fun
Everyone claiming that this will somehow impact Italy’s demographic problem needs to finish kindergarten before opening their mouths again. This basically stops the “right of return” policies that some emigration-heavy European countries have/had (like Ireland) aimed at re-integrating the children of people that left en masse in the beginning of the 20th Century.
This isn’t about denying citizenship to children of emigrants, this is about putting an end on MILLIONS – and I mean millions – of Americans (North, and South) with at best tenuous connections to the country. These aren’t people who will move back to Italy anytime soon. These are 4th-Gens who have 0 family left in Italy, don’t speak the language, and have never even been to Italy, who until recently had the right to claim Italian (thus EU) citizenship through the simple fact that their great-grat-grandparents emigrated from here to Brasil, Colombia, Venezuela, Canada, wherever else they might have gone to.
That is BULLSHIT, and all that brough Italy is an extra 1% for the Right-Wing in EVERY election, given by a bunch of South American voters who never even set foot in Italy, and two useless members of Parliament who often didn’t even speak Italian (and still perceived 13k+ euros a month from our taxes).
Also, denying automatic citizenship to people who don’t speak the language, have no family, and have never been in Italy has *zero* connection with “africans or middle easterners”. Italy doesn’t give automatic citizenship to immigrants, in fact, it’s pretty fucking hard to get it, and South Americans will always have it easier than any African, even if we stop giving them free EU citizenship based solely on the fact that their last name is Rossi.
oh damn lots of brazilians and many other south americans are gonna be thrilled by this news!
Distant ancestral and birth right citizenship claims are honestly some of the dumbest immigration/citizenship policies I’ve ever heard of
Portugal next. Its ridiculous…
Brazilians will love this. The Italian descendants in Brazil are quite annoying, always flaunting their surnames and passports as a badge of honor
But I’m 45th generation Roman
But I don’t know ’em
Or care when I’m spitting
So return to your sitting position and listen it’s fitting
The previous law granted every person with Italian ancestry the chance to get citizenship (dating as far back as 1861 for male ancestry and 1948 for female ancestry).
The new law states that you can apply for citizenship if either your grandparents or parents possess/possessed Italian citizenship.
All things considered the law seems pretty reasonable and relaxed compared to other Ius Sanguinis, hell language certification is not even a requirement.
Good. Portugal should do the same. Its ridiculous our citizenship comes, pretty much, in cereal boxes, these days
Your descendants have to apply for citizenship to return home. Our descendants either killed the entire native population or died trying. We are not the same.
Can Germany do the same now please?
I spent ages trying to move to Germany through learning the language, getting a degree, integrating into the culture and working hard enough to get the money to move and I won’t be offered citizenship for years.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the middle of fucking nowhere in the Midwest, there’s a yank that can barely speak English properly, let alone German, that is able to get citizenship because their great grandad’s best mate’s dog was a German Shepherd.
Old italy?🤨
1861 isn’t old
The thing is…..a great majority of Argentinians with an Italian passport never get to Italy.
They know about good food and cool people so they all stay in Spain.
Ameritards are in shambles
New York City people in shambles
