Once again president Trump's envoy echoes Russian propaganda. Witkoff has claimed that referendum condemned by the international community were valid and Ukraine should give up Ukrainian territory to end the current war. This echo of the Russian propaganda machine has become a pushed policy of the white house .

  2. It’s bad and stupid rherotic but there just isn’t a ceasefire ever without Ukraine de-facto giving up territory, same is true with Russia no longer performing strikes in Ukraine or trying to swing Ukrainian politics.

  3. This is the ugly side of a negotiated peace. We haven’t had to deal with this in recent memory.

  5. I realistically don’t see a way in which Ukraine achieves peace without giving up a large chunk of land in the east.

    In doing so, Russia would claim more land. Land that is devastated and mined to hell. Ukraine would hopefully be offered a security agreement by French or Polish armed forces.

    A DMZ could be formed and defended

    I just don’t see a way that Ukraine would be able to successfully counter attack the Russian biomass and reclaim the large swaths of land that have been lost without allies getting involved directly.

  6. I do not care if Ukraine has to give up parts of the East, but it must happen in the context of real security guarantees so we’re not dealing with this again in 5-10 years.

  7. One thing no one mentions and hopefully someone cleverer than me can answer;

    If ukraine cedes their eastern territory and a peacekeeping force is sent to a DMZ zone, would they get pulled into a full war if theres accidental (or incidental) casualties during a ceasefire?

    Even more conspiratorial, could Ukraine lead them into this via a false flag to try and push Russia out?
