Apparently Rumbledethumps is similar to Irish Colcanon originating from the Scottish Borders. I learned about it from a local coffee shop owner here in Ohio that grew up in Paisley.

That same owner introduced me to Irn Bru and I found several different recipes that incorporated it.

  1. Intriguing… recipe for the irn bru sauce? I’m veggie – could I swap mycoprotein for chicken?

  2. Englishman who’s lived in Scotland most of his adult life. I’ve never seen anywhere cook chicken with Irn Bru, but I’d love to know what it tastes like!

  3. No one in the UK cooks with Irn Bru. I did a bit of googling and all the recipes are American

  4. That sounds like the type of thing someone says to wind someone up that is a bit nieve of a culture and customs. The Aussies are excellent at it. 😅

  5. Irn Bru chicken, you say? Do you have a recipe?

  6. Haggis pakora is the only thing I regularly see with an irnbru dressing/sauce. Stovies are fairly popular here.

  7. As someone who recently discovered Irn Bru 1901, I’ve got to try this!

  8. Next time you want to cook a healthy (The recipe you sent was from food for fitness)meal from Scotland, I’d recommend a Balmoral chicken breast.

  9. Only chiming in here as someone with a Scottish missus. I’m a veggie myself.

She’s made iron bru glazed ham and everyone loved it. I would say it’s far from traditional but fuck it, food should be fun.

  10. What?

    Someone is having you on.

This wreaks of ai written article.

  11. I was on slimming world a few years ago, and Diet Coke chicken was very popular.

  12. I always thought people who batch cook their lunches must really hate themselves but this a new level 😋

  13. The fact I can mention diabetes as a joke and you confirm you’re on the way to it is just priceless.

Stereotypes really do exist for a reason.

  14. The Irn Bru in your picture is the wrong colour. Either you’ve used a filter or it’s some high fructose corn syrup American knock off of genuine Irn Bru.

What’s the iron content of the bottle in your picture?

  15. I could imagine it would work like cooking pork in Cola?

  16. You have not explored a Scottish dish here though. You just got something that sounded Scottish and did it. Should a done some stovies.

  17. Is that chicken and scrambled egg? I have never heard of this.
