I think in the 4D chess game there’s currently going on, this is to please the US
We’re asking the British public to begin investing in more cutlery! And maybe swords?
I can assure you that the Chinese government doesn’t give a solitary F about the Scunthorpe plant
“Father of Steel” is widely considered to be Sir Henry Bessemer. He developed the Bessemer process in 1856 , a significant advancement in steelmaking that allowed for mass production and significantly reduced the cost of steel . UK must find pride in its past as being obsequious and grovelling is a road to nowhere .
China wants to join the CPTPP, and we have a veto. This will end up being a small bump in the road, neither of us can afford to get caught up bickering when we have Trump’s Tariffs to deal with.
UK couldn’t let the furnaces go cold. Chinese didn’t care it was losing money, the way they see it is if UK has production issues they are okay to fund/facilitate that.
So on the one hand it’s good that we have renationalised UK steel but on the other hand it’s not profitable so…
This isn’t the win people think it is. We’re just stopping the Chinese from essentially quietly destroying steel production.
