Japan-based cabin accommodation startup A Cabin Company has closed a pre-seed funding round.
This is the first investment for newly-launched venture capital fund Seveno Capital. Seveno, founded by entrepreneur and Park Hotel Group founder Allen Law, will be drawing from its five-year $70 million wellness fund, but the total amount allocated to A Cabin Company was not disclosed.
A Cabin Company leases plots from local residents on the outskirts of Japanese cities, developing the sites into “boutique-level mobile cabins” for “nature-based stays,” the company said in a release.
The cabins are built on trailers, meaning they’re legally classified as vehicles as opposed to real estate, avoiding the process of permitting, land acquisition and construction associated with traditional hospitality development. This also allows it to start operations and generate revenue within three months of construction, A Cabin Company said.
The company will use the funding to accelerate its rollout across Japan, strengthen partnerships with local landowners and integrate wellness tech technology. A Cabin Company plans to deploy 380 cabins within Japan by 2029, with its first location set to open next month outside of Tokyo in Chiba. The startup also cited plans to expand its “nature-as-infrastructure” model globally.

“We’re proud to partner with Seveno Capital and Allen Law, united by the belief that wellness should be a daily right and not a luxury for few. I truly believe A Cabin Company will redefine modern living, shifting it from high-stress to well-balanced, just as gyms once made fitness part of everyday life,” said Mori Nishimura, founder and CEO of A Cabin Company.
“In a few years, people from Tokyo to New York will feel more restored and mentally clear. Instead of distant, exclusive nature resorts, we’re building a simpler, more affordable and more transformative way to recharge.”
Seveno is focused on backing ventures “with the holistic potential to expand human health span,” the company said in the release.
“We are proud to launch Seveno Capital with an inaugural investment in A Cabin Company. The company is creating access to a new lifestyle: effortless, repeatable access to nature and human connection,” Law said.
“Nature is a pillar of lifestyle medicine, and the company is rethinking human well-being by allowing guests to easily embed nature and recovery into their daily lives.”
A Cabin Company plans to open its seed round this year and establish a cabin manufacturing hub near Tokyo.
Last month, Spain-based campsite operator HolaCamp—a startup that offers technology enabled camping experiences in tiny homes, tents and bungalows—also received €10 million in funding from investment first Amavi Capital.
