  1. > The Government presented multiple options to the White House, with proposals for June, July and August visits involving the Royal family suggested and declined.

    > Mr Trump is understood to have now signalled approval for a visit to Windsor Castle.

    > On Thursday night, the US president confirmed he was planning to visit the UK in the Oval Office.

    > “I don’t know how it could be bigger than the last one,” he continued. “The last one, as you know, was incredible, but they said it’s going to be even more important.”

Lol, yes so much bigger so much more important. The strategy really is to say whatever to make Trump feel important.

    > In February, during his visit to the White House, Sir Keir presented Mr Trump with a hand-signed letter from the King, inviting him to stay at either Dumfries House or Balmoral.

    > The president owns a golf course in Aberdeenshire, with speculation that a trip could have been coordinated over the summer.

    > The offer, discussed with the Government, was considered a high honour, taking the president into one of the Royal family’s inner sanctums – the much-loved summer retreat of the late Elizabeth II.

    > Sir Keir’s team felt that a private stay with the King in Scotland, where Mr Trump has family connections, would be a personal touch and extra incentive to fly to the UK.

I’m actually surprised he didn’t go for the balmoral visit which would have been a first but also it kind of makes sense that Trump would want Windsor or BP.

    > But UK officials are understood to have been told that Mr Trump would prefer a grander stage for the visit, and hoped to be photographed at Windsor, where he met the late Queen seven years ago.

  2. Trump wouldn’t care about seeing Balmoral. The grander the better.

  3. As an American, I think it’s super gross that he calls them by their first names. “Charles” and “William”. Could he have SOME sense of decorum?
