Slide 1 – Alfonso, Prince of Asturias and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

They are second cousins through Julia, Princess of Battenberg and second cousins once removed through Queen Victoria. Princess Victoria of Hesse and by Rhine, daughter of Queen Victoria’s daughter Princess Alice, married Prince Louis of Battenberg. Their grandson is Prince Philip. Queen Victoria’s youngest child Princess Beatrice married Louis’ brother Prince Henry of Battenberg. Their daughter Princess Victoria Eugenie married King Alfonso XIII of Spain. It’s clear that the Battenberg genes are strong.

They are second cousins once removed through Queen Victoria.

A granddaughter of Alfonso XIII’s other daughter Infanta Beatriz, Sibilla Weiller, married Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg. She is a second cousin of American actress Brooke Shields as her maternal grandfather Alessandro Torlonia, 5th Prince of Civitella-Cesi is the older brother of Brooke’s paternal grandmother Donna Marina Torlonia.
