  1. Webb was killed in 2023, and this court case comes after it took a forensic investigation of EIGHTEEN MONTHS.

Had Webb being cycling on the pavement, he probably wouldn’t have survived either, because the driver mounted the pavement before hitting a road sign, returning to the road, hitting Webb, continuing on her merry way and hitting another vehicle.

Just ban cars. All of them. Everywhere.

  2. That’s a £3.50 fine and an eight minute suspended sentence.

  3. I read that. She’s seriously incompetent (they didn’t mention being impared by drugs or alcohol).

Jail time, even if suspended, would be very much appropriate.

They don’t do life time driving bans do they?

  4. Reading what is claimed to have happened that’s horrendous. That speed, out of control, on the pavement etc. hard to see how this shouldn’t end up being a serious sentence if convicted.

  5. Female, Driving offence – brace for an absolutely insulting sentence.

  6. There is a lot of non-factual stuff about sentencing posted here. The actual sentencing guidelines are at [https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/crown-court/item/causing-death-by-dangerous-driving/](https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/crown-court/item/causing-death-by-dangerous-driving/)

The starting point for custodial sentences for a category A offence, which includes speeding significantly in excess of the speed limit, is 12 years’ custody. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment. Sentencing will be harsher due to aggravating factors that include the victim being a cyclist, i.e. a vulnerable road user.

This is serious charge and is likely to result in proper jail time.

  7. “He had a maths and philosophy degree from Bristol University, a masters in philosophy from Amsterdam university and had been due to begin the second year of a masters at the London College of Contemporary Music.”
Wow, he was a smart guy. what a waste. couldn’t help notice that he also shares Cliff Richard’s real name.

  8. 53mph on Homerton High Street is insane. And given that it’s a relatively straight road, how on earth do you manage to mount the pavement?

  9. What a horrible human being, that road has a nursery AND a school on it too.

  10. Yeah but she did it in a car so she won’t get punished as much as if she had used a different weapon.

  11. And yet all I hear locally is how dangerous cyclists are.
