Only voters abroad can vote by post.

A Latvian citizen who will be 18 years of age on the day of the election and who has a declared place of residence in the administrative territory of the municipality or owns immovable property at least 90 days before the election day may vote.

To vote by post, you must have access to the internet and use one of the following authentication tools: eID, eIDMobile, SmartID, or internet banking.

You will also need a printer to print the election material, two envelopes: one to insert the ballot paper and a postal envelope to send by post, and a stamp to stick on the postal envelope.

The earliest date for applying for a postal vote is 18 April and the latest date for applying for a postal vote is 30 May.

The CVK calls on you to apply for postal voting as soon as possible, immediately after 18 April, so that the mail reaches Latvia in time.

Application for postal voting is made on the website Latvija.lv or on the website of the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs in the e-service “Voter Data Management”. When applying, you must indicate your declared place of residence in Latvia or property in Latvia.
