Today on my way to the Barbican I saw by chance the Roman amphiteatre under Guildhall. I didn't even know it existed! There are only few remains – its material was reused for other buildings centuries ago, and about 1/3 was excavated – however it's displayed in a really engaging way. And it's free!

  1. Yeah we went here when the kids did the Romans at school. They had a great activity sheet too. It is a maze to find – just keep heading down – but a nice place once you are there.

  2. I get the attraction of seeing this in London but this is perhaps the most unimpressive Roman relic in the entire world.
