Democracy itself is rather recent and those same countries were still the more prosperous ones before it becomes dominant

Because every Arab is obviously in favour of sharia and thinks the same. No one would ever get the idea that people all over the world have different opinions from each other, even when they belong to the same ethnicity, or that opinions and political views are formed by their surrounding conditions and interactions with each other.
