The ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China has again impacted the auto industry. According to USA Today, Ford Motor Co. has stopped shipping certain vehicles to China thanks to massive tariffs implemented by China on vehicles imported from the U.S.
China’s tariffs are as high as 150% and were announced in response to President Donald Trump’s 145% tariff on goods imported from China to the U.S.

Two sources familiar with the situation told the Detroit Free Press that F-150 Raptor pickups, Mustang sports cars and Bronco SUVs built in Michigan are no longer being sent to China. Lincoln Navigators made in Kentucky are also no longer heading to China.

Because the tariff is so high, it makes the vehicles unaffordable in most cases. For instance, the F-150 Raptor costs nearly $100,000 in China, so a 150% tariff represents a huge price increase.
Although these vehicles are no longer being exported to China, Ford is still supplying some parts used in vehicles in China.
