  1. In other words, he is following UK labour party policy. Quel suprise.

  2. Personally, I prefer political parties that offer something in exchange for my vote.

  3. Labour proving once and again that they have nothing to offer Scotland.

  4. He’s shafted in the next GE here. EU vs US on a trade deal is gonna be a huge factor for them and its not a longshot to guess which Scotland prefers

  5. Fucking hell, the public turned away from the tories looking to try something else and labour instead fumble and just become Tory light. What a weird move.

  6. There is not any party registered as Scottish Labour. It’s only Labour .

  7. It’s like he actively wants to lose the next election in Scotland.

Seriously, his policies would fit a post industrial Northern English town under threat of a Reform landslide, not a centre-left European nation.

  8. Curious what Scot Labour strategy is, as they seem stubbornly uninterested in winning votes.

  9. Scottish Labour needs to seriously rethink itself. It’s quite shocking they haven’t had a decent leader for what feels like two decades now. Many of them were scarcely tolerable, though having seen interviews with a few of them after they’d left the position of leader they’re often more personable.

Is there a structural problem in how it functions? Is it the funding? Bad youth game?

  10. Dude is all about saying no. Has absolutely no ambition other than winning. He’s a hollow man

  11. That pretty much confirms he’s going to vote for all of these things.

  12. He can’t rule out anything. He’s got literally zero say in UK politics, which is the point.

  13. Having expectations. Politicians hate this one weird trick

  14. It’s time for independence, and getting rid of these servile politicians who put England/UK’s interests before those of our own country.

In general, Labour these are a bunch of Red Tory toffs. Imagine what Keir Hardie would have to say.

  15. Utterly pointless man.

We already have a Secretary of State for Scotland to tell us what Westminster is going to impose on us – why do we also need this twat?

It would be nice for someone in Labour to speak *for* Scotland, rather than Labour speaking *at* us.

  16. So what exactly is the point of the Labour party? Sounds like Diet Tory tbh.

  17. “Come see our policies for hope, people! We’ve got fuck all, more fuck all, and benefits cuts galore”

  18. And these fuckers can’t understand why the SNP keep winning. Not an original thought amongst them.

  19. Pro-EU one minute, Faragist the next. That’s the life of a yoon.

  20. How to say you’re a Tory without saying you’re a Tory

  21. Makes it much easier to say No to Labour.

The fucking state of Scottish politics.

We’ll end up with reform in Westminster.

Independence looks nailed on at this rate.

  22. Alright, so what’s his fucking alternative then lol…

    >He said there are other significant growth areas, including India, North America and the Gulf States where the UK sees opportunities

Sorry, India is going into an authoritarian regime, and I don’t frankly support the labour exchange that’s going on at the minute.

    North America is fucked

And the Gulf States wants to see the west fall, so help me out here.

    >He argued that Labour’s recent budget will help redistribute wealth.

That budget which directly fucked the poor and most needy, and landed my employer with a higher tax bill just to employ me a working class lad from one of the most deprived areas? **EXCUSE ME?**

Look, I’m on the Labour side here in terms of “This budget sucks, wait for the next one before we start seeing a trend” but he’s just out and out said he supports it. WTF are you doing lad.

Also, why the fuck is the mayor of london more critical to Labour than Scottish Labour. Holy fuck.

    >Dismissing a recent newspaper poll showing 52% in favour of independence, the Labour leader said nine months is too short a time to judge the Starmer government and that Labour had to make “very difficult choices.”

    CHOICES THAT YOU SUPPORT MATE?

    >He said devolving powers from Holyrood to reformed local government in Scotland will help unlock economic progress.

Wales and England are currently doing that aye? Aye right.

Every time I hear from this clown it just makes me want to vote SNP all the more. At least with Keir I can get behind a national objective and understand the pain he’s had with the previous Tory government. This guy is just actually on drugs though.

He needs binned, the sooner Labour come to grips that actually Scotland isn’t a fucking hell hole and it’s actually got shit going for it, the better we’ll all be having proper opposition.

    This entire article is disgraceful.

  23. Where’s he going to raise revenue then? Biggest trading bloc and it’s next door to us. Being Scottish we carry a certain goodwill.

But no… So AI and technology to make services more efficient and hammer the public sector.

    Nice one.

  24. Labour doesn’t offer anything to Scotland other than they aren’t the Tories or to a lesser extent the SNP.

I think it’s a massive mistake to rule anything out particularly with the current political instability around the world.

The whole of Labours policies seem to be directed towards retaining the red wall voters at the expense of everyone else.

  25. So odd that the “leader” of a Scottish party would be against so many things the Scottish people voted strongly in support of.

Why would I trust this man to put Scotland’s interests first?

  26. So, Anas Sarwar — the leader of Scottish Labour, aka “Keir Starmer North” — has come out swinging with some brave, daring policy announcements. And by that, I mean he’s heroically committed to *not* rejoining the European Single Market or the Customs Union, and he’s also bravely decided that a wealth tax is just a step too far.

Because nothing says “standing up for Scotland” like wholeheartedly embracing the Brexit disaster we didn’t vote for, and then ruling out one of the few redistributive policies that might actually do something about our grotesque wealth inequality. Top marks, Anas.

I mean, why would Scotland want frictionless trade, better economic stability, or freedom of movement when we can have bureaucracy, export delays, and a stagnant economy? That 62% Remain vote must’ve just been a *suggestion*, right?

And of course we wouldn’t want to inconvenience billionaires while NHS waiting lists grow and public services crumble. Much better to keep things “aspirational” — for the already rich.

It’s almost impressive how Sarwar manages to sound both like a Blairite tribute act *and* a nervous Lib Dem councillor trying not to upset the neighbours. Scottish Labour could be carving out a strong, progressive alternative to the SNP and the Tories, but instead we get… this. A man so cautious he makes beige look radical.

No bold stance on Brexit, no appetite for taxing the wealthy, and no vision that seems remotely in step with what most Scots actually want. But hey, at least he’s consistent — consistently underwhelming.

  27. Shocker that the Trump fan who wants to implement DOGE department bullshit here hates the EU and throws all his inconsequential toys out of the pram at the idea of cooperating with the hated europeans.

    >On the NHS being part of a trade deal with the USA, Mr Sarwar said, **“The NHS is not on the table and will always be a national asset.”**

Pretty much guarantees the NHS is totally on the table.

  28. Sarwar, and the entire branch office of Labour, are a waste of time and space. They’re not allowed to have different ideas from head office.

  29. He might as well have said he wants his constituents, and the people of Scotland, to be poorer and continue to get poorer for years to come. Brexit has stalled UK growth. While we’re experiencing a very slight bump as money fleeing the US has to go somewhere, and we’re catching some of it, a return to sustainable growth means getting back to high trade volumes with our nearest neighbours.

  30. Always gotta check what his bosses say before he can go along with them.

  31. Diet Tory branch manager says what he’s told to say about things he’s got no input into.
