If you look at it more closely, it makes sense – they showed no reservations of lodgings, no flight bookings, and made a reference to working remote. They were detained for a night because they wanted another flight a day later.

She was stopped by immigration authorities in Spain because they found her loosely planned trip to visit me “suspicious” and because she was not carrying enough cash. She was repatriated to her home country after about 3 days in confinement.
