On April 29, 2025, Prince William and Kate Middleton will celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary. Instead of commemorating the milestone at Kensington Palace, they plan to head to a remote island destination for the occasion. In addition to spending quality time together during the getaway, the duo will also participate in charitable efforts with local residents. Over the course of two days, the couple will explore the Isles of Mull and Iona in Scotland in an effort to “celebrate and connect with rural island communities,” Kensington Palace said in a statement. While in Scotland, the two will go by their Scottish royal titles: the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.
Their chosen destination points to a possible desire to seek out some peace and quiet in honor of their anniversary. The Isle of Mull has a population of 2,800 people—and Iona boasts just 130 permanent residents. During their two days in Scotland, the two plan to participate in efforts related to protecting and championing the natural environment. “The landscapes and communities on the Scottish Isles provide a sharp contrast to how many of us in more urban environments live,” Kensington Palace said in a statement. “These island communities offer a powerful model for fostering a more loving, empathetic, and compassionate society through deeper connections with our surroundings and engaging more in shared [endeavors].”

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Plans for Their Anniversary Trip
Beginning their trip on the Isle of Mull on April 29, William and Kate will visit Toberoney Market, an open-air market of local vendors, and Aros Hall, a community center that hosts a number of events for residents. They’ll also visit Croft3, a restaurant and working farm on the island, to learn more about sustainable farming and hospitality. While it’s unclear whether or not the royals plan to dine at the establishment, if they choose to do so, it may be the perfect setting for an anniversary dinner. The April menu for the restaurant has a variety of options, including onion tart tatin, Bloody Mary crab bisque, Haggis, potato scones, polenta mash, honey-roasted carrots, and lamp hotpot. If William and Kate decide to mark the occasion with a sweet treat, they’ll be able to select from a number of choices, including chocolate and almond cake, a nod to their own wedding-day dessert, a chocolate biscuit cake that was a childhood favorite of William’s.
On April 30, the two will meet with members of the Mull and Iona Ranger Service at the Ardura Community Forest, as well as spend time with children participating in outdoor learning activities. During their two-day visit, their foundation will announce a plan to develop two community spaces on the island. This trip may be particularly sentimental for William and Kate, as the two met while university students at St. Andrew’s in Scotland. Additionally, this marks the princess’s first overnight royal engagement since her cancer diagnosis in 2024. On September 9, 2024, Kate announced that she had officially completed chemotherapy. “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she shared in a video last fall. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
