  1. Interesting move by Ukraine. A mirror move to the Easter truce, which put Ukraine in a very tough spot, and they also played it very badly by first rejecting and then backpedaling. Here they seem to want to bait Russia in not destroying civilian infrastructure, and the moment Russia rejects they will denounce it.if they do accept it and later break it, well that’s an easy geopolitical win for Ukraine.

The problem with this is the premise, the “civilian” infrastructure. I don’t have a complete list of all the buildings that Russia hit, but I did see footage of the most widely publicized ones and they all were used for military purposes. Perfect example was the latest strike which, Ukrainians themselves admitted, was used for a ceremony of military awards. (The governor of the region even got fired for this accident.) Russia will certainly reject any unconditional ceasefire as that would mean letting civilian buildings be used for military purposes with impunity. So they might accept something like “civilian infrastructure not used for military purposes”, and I can already see how Ukraine will use this to their advantage.

    Well played Ukraine.

  2. What does civilian infrastructure mean? That’s the problem. Some things are clear cut…others are not.

Power infrastructure….zelensky calls it civilian infrastructure…but its dual use.

Terms like civilian. Infrastructure are designed to be consumed by the ignorant and those emotional souls…but legally and militarily.. unfortunately both sides need to iron out exactly what they mean
