Despite President Donald Trump’s comments Tuesday that things were going “fine with China,” a spokesperson for the nation has denied any suggestion that it is in active negotiations with the U.S. over tariffs. The Trump administration has sent mixed messages regarding the progress and intent of its trade negotiations.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an Oval Office meeting that he had a “very successful bilateral meeting” on Thursday with South Korea, yet within minutes of the comment, Trump said that it would be “physically impossible” to go through negotiations with dozens of countries and “we are going to, at some point, just set prices for deals.”
