  1. Maybe changes to the Highway Code could be sent out by post, a flyer through the door, a short tv ad. Maybe they could try some way of letting us know new changes. But hey, where would be the revenue raising in that? Best to let us break rules we don’t even know exist so they can fine us and make a da money.

  2. Well yeah, you can’t just change the rules and not provide any training, nothing works that way.

When we went from stick controls to finger controls in our FLTs at work, we had to go through two hours of training on how to use them, for insurance purposes.

Government rewrites the rules of the road? Nah fuck it send an email to their junk folders and let the BBC briefly mention it at 5am, all sorted.

  3. Drivers misunderstand rules of presentations so bikes don’t stand a chance

  4. Every time these rather longstanding rules come up on social media drivers react with outrage, insisting they must be wrong or new or woke. I’m increasingly convinced that every driver in the UK believes they are the only person in the world who knows how to drive and that everyone else is incompetent, whereas in reality no one in the UK knows how to drive and obviously we’re all incompetent at everything

  5. Let’s be honest, half the people you encounter on the roads couldn’t be trusted to sit the right way round on the toilet.

  6. My sister hates them the roads near her don’t allow for a 1.5 metre passing distance so it’s slow crawl till they turn off, but it’s country lanes so there’s no where to turn off for miles. It’s funny to listen to her complain.

  7. Any cyclist not trying to keep over where it’s safe to do so is an entitled asshole. So sick of them running red lights but being the first to complain about everyone else.

If you can’t handle cars overtaking you, don’t fucking cycle. The world doesn’t revolve around you and your latex butt cheeks.

  8. >The findings showed more than three-quarters (77%) incorrectly believed cyclists must use a cycle lane if one is available, and 65% wrongly thought cyclists must keep as far left as possible. Over half believed cyclists should always ride in single file, and just 34% correctly recognised that cyclists are allowed to take up a full lane.

It’s a two way thing though. You’d hope that cyclists would be trying to actively avoid getting run over. Same reason that I wouldn’t just walk across the street while traffic was coming and expect the car to be able to deck the brakes in time (I know some people do actually do this though). Seems sensible to ride in a cycle / bus lane if one is available (but I suppose it just means they don’t HAVE to).

it’s like a belt & braces, keep out the way of the cars AND cars should be aware of road users and try not to hit anyone. Too many selfish drivers are just in the ‘get out of my way’ mindset and see every other road user as a personal inconvenience.

  9. Where are the rules for drivers that need to get to places before everyone else?

  10. You’re assuming any kind of understanding that can be misunderstood. They. Don’t. Care. And, there’s no one to MAKE them care.

  11. Drivers still don’t understand you must stop when someone is waiting to cross a zebra crossing you can’t park on zigzags and if your turning say left and someone is crossing you must also stop.. Love it or hate it pedestrians have right of way

  12. They don’t misunderstand, they just don’t give a shit.

  13. 40% think Amber means speed up and red means I’ll just get through coz everyone does it don’t they?

  14. What’s hard to understand? If you see a cyclist, speed up and see how far they land
