This has happened several times when I've been away for a day or so, come back to a trail in the rug in the downstairs lounge. I'm assuming it's from a snail or slug but can't see where they'd have got in.

Would it be the same snail? What does it want?

So many questions

  1. Slug/slugs. Get a torch and shine on the laminate. See if you can trace the trail back to the entry point.

  2. Look for tiny hole (holes?) in the skirting. Especially at the bottom corners of patio sliding or French doors. Plug any holes with sealer. They can be quite small.

  3. slugs really do just appear seemingly out of nowhere

  4. OP’s mum is scooting her fanny over it like a dog with worms.

  5. A slug that got into your WKD and now has the shits

  6. Slender slugs slip through slender gaps,
And slender carpet slugs are quite annoying twats.

  7. Slugs, the air in your house is too damp or there’s something that needs a good clean.

  8. Slugs. I get the same. I put down pellets at entry points, sealed bits etc but they kept coming back. Over lockdown I solved the issue.

I got up at 3am once flicked the light switch and found I had disturbed a full on slug party. Picked them all up in tissue paper and took them outside to dispose.

Did the same for 3 days. They disappeared for three years.

    Repeat.

  9. Sorry mate, thought you’d be cool with it. I’ll not do it again.

  10. Slugs – either they’re getting in through a small hole somewhere, or you’ve carried one in on a shoe (easy to do with wellies and the like with deep grooves). Trying and trace the trail back to source to find out which.
