  1. Since the start of Ukraine’s operation in Kursk Oblast last year, the Russian military has lost 62,400 troops, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on April 26. Of these, 25,200 were “irretrievable” losses and 36,200 were wounded, according to the update. “An additional 983 soldiers from the (Russian) army were captured. Thanks to prisoner exchanges, hundreds of our soldiers were able to return home from Russian captivity,” the General Staff said.

  2. The numbers UA leadership puts out in the past year or so have often been so ludicrous it’s not reasonable to even try to guess a reasonable actual value from whatever data they provide.

Material losses are somewhat easier to quantify. But manpower numbers especially have just completely lost any credibility for both sides. A report like this is worthless, and even the average citizen is not going to regard this as an accurate assessment.

I’m not going to pretend like I know what the best decision making for UA leadership is, but putting out clearly exaggerated numbers certainly isn’t it.

  3. One side in currently-ongoing war says that other side in war is doing badly.

‘Trust us—they suck!’ says one side in war about other side.
