  1. Question: If NK has never formally declared peace against South Korea, doesn’t this mean Russia is now at war with South Korea, a nation with a defence treaty with the United states, a NATO member?

    Further question: Does this trigger NATO’s article 5 then via this chain of alliances? Is Russia at war with the United states via South Korea’s 1959 alliance treaty with the US?

    EIDT: Thanks for clarifying that SK is not a NATO member, they are a “Global partner”.

    Rather, their connection to the NATO defence pact is via the
    SK-US mutual alliance signed in 1953.
