Death toll in Gaza rises to 52,000, territory’s health ministry says, as Israel continues offensive

1. I want to point out that it was 41,000 Palestinians that were killed as of April 2024 and at that point of the Genocide, Israel had not decimated Rafah and they did not turn Northern Gaza into a complete Kill Zone while completely sealing it off.

   It’s hard to believe that only 10,000 more people were killed a year later.

2. So since the number froze last year around 40k, it only rose up by that much? Assuming that they aren’t inflating it with other causes (like they have been caught doing and have admitted to before), then Israel really did do a piss poor job of “learning from the Nazis”

3. Kind reminder that Gazan authorities counting the death toll are actually being EXTREMELY conservative even though it would benefit them to be otherwise. They only count confirmed identified persons as dead. Missing doesn’t count. I wouldn’t be surprised if the real death toll is double or triple these numbers. This is for all the people who try to run with the “hamas run health ministry” angle. The Palestinian government has way more integrity than Israel and the IDF.

   And we can tell they’re trying to minimize non-militant casualties because the IDF only shoots ambulances, bombs refugee camps, sabotages water supplies, and demolishes hospitals. A military trying to maximize non-militant casualties would, I dunno, prevent aid from passing into the territory? Sabotage generators and solar panels? Vandalize farmland? Kidnap doctors?

   I mean the IDF has done all of the above, but, y’know. The hostages or whatever.
