Somehow I’ve only just caught Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing and I’ve got to say this is just one of the loveliest shows I think I’ve ever seen

  1. It’s a great way to relax. They obviously have a great friendship and it shows. One of the best shows on the BBC.

  2. I share the same sentiment.

I love both of them and fishing but never got around to watching the show. Wife and I finally started, binged it all and loved every second of it. Such a laid-back, relaxing, and in some places, quite beautiful programme.

    Hopefully more to come!

  3. ‘Oooh, nice fish, sir!’

Super relaxing and great viewing, one of my fave shows!

  4. PERFECT binge telly. Adore these two, and their friendship is sublime and restores faith in humanity; for me at least.

  5. If you are after something similar in a fictional setting, The Detectorists is a brilliant low-key comedy. Very gentle, very English, with some absolutely beautiful photography and great music.

  6. Yup when I get a little depressed I will watch the whole thing on the sofa over a weekend and feel a bit better every time.

  7. Similar kind of energy, but Perfect Pub Walk with Bill Bailey was also just a lovely and easy watch. Not sure if there will be future seasons, but I hope so.

  8. Yeah, it’s a brilliant TV show. So simplicity both very good.

  9. It’s fucking great, but at the same time each new series is preeeeeeetty similar to the last.

  10. I watch it a lot, really relaxing and easy to watch.

  11. Isn’t it? Lovely and fun and where we will all be one day.

  12. One of the best shows on TV. Bob Mortimer is an absolute hero

  13. I love this show. My dad showed me a clip on YouTube a couple years ago when we came over during summer. As soon as the SO and I got home we binged the lot. Been patiently waiting for every season since.

Best wind down show to watch with comfort food after a long day at work. By far.

  14. Apparently it was going to be called “Ted and the two idiots” but guess they changed it.

  15. Always amazes me that it is very rarely raining.. I remember watching one series the year after a terrible summer and there they are in lovely sunshine fishing away..

  16. Not sure why Bob hasn’t been given the OBE (Order of the Bullshitting Englishman) not really related to this program. But watch him on any UK comedy panel shows (esp. would I lie to you). The man is a genius. And I think whitehouse brings that out in the fishing series. And major credits go out to the production crew for the images, the music and the locations.

  17. I watch an episode before getting ready for bed if I’ve been watching something stressful/intense. It’s like a big warm wholesome hug, and shows the best of the British countryside and nature. And awaaaaaaaay.
