Water hardness can alter the taste. Seasonal rainfall, water source blending, and how long the water has been in the pipes can all shift the taste of the water to a degree. Also a good mood enhances taste perception, too. Probably a few other factors as well.
Is it because tea and milk are subject to crop variations, decay, other organisms etc… as I was once a student, I can attest that eventually tea starts to get a weird and unpleasant fishy quality which I put down to it probably being all mouldy or something 🤷🏻♂️
I think your mood and surroundings can affect the way it hits.
It’s been proven that people experience alcohol differently due to surroundings and mood, I expect the same is true for everything.
I’ve often wondered this and I think it’s a bit like how beauty is in the eye of the beholder. How good the tea tastes depends on how thirsty you are, if you haven’t had caffeine for a while, your mood, your temperature etc etc.
Basically, if you’re gasping for a tea, it usually tastes great. If not, meh.
My best is usually the one when I get home from a long day at work, and I’ve been looking forward to it.
I can make a 2nd thinking I’ll get same experience, and it’ll just not hit the spot.
It’s 100% the mug.
Some days your soul needs that cuppa more.
Because it depends on how much you needed it
I brought a filter and now my tea levels have gotten way better.

it’s mostly the tea itself.
Post fry up is unequaled
Incredibly obvious (in hindsight) answer: Your tolerance to the pleasure of it diminished.
ADHD just means that your tolerance to anything is incredibly low, but it builds up incredibly quickly. That’s it. You **just** have a dopamine dysregulation. That’s all that’s different (not **wrong**, different) about you.
Probably the sugar.
More sugar
I reckon it tastes best when you’re a little dehydrated without realising. Like after a long walk or 3am at a house party after drinking all night
True. Some days, it is just satisfying.
I do think brew time significantly affects the quality of the tea, and that brew time is often neglected. I like to leave my bag in for a minimum of 5 minutes.
I accidentally discovered how much my tea got better by having abnormally long brew times because I’d always be chasing my toddler around trying to stop them from killing themselves. Since my kid became a toddler my tea quality has improved. Sadly for the same reason I never get to finish my tea. It always goes cold in the background of the chaos.
You tried Yorkshire biscuit tea?? Absolutely changed my life!!
It’s not a meme
And “hits different”, cringe
As tea is a blend of different teas.. Each bag can’t contain an exact mixture/amount, the taste will be slightly different each time. Also water, I always rinse my kettle out each time before brewing up so it’s the freshest it can be.
This might be absolute hogwash but I think the cup you use helps. Out of all my mugs, I’ve got a thinner porcelain one that I swear hits different. Or maybe it’s just the memories attached to said mug, who knows. Now I want a cuppa.
I’ve not managed to make myself a good cuppa in weeks I have no idea what’s going on
“No man ever drinks the same tea twice
For it’s not the same tea, and he’s not the same man.”
