The Fort Myers Police Department and Fort Myers Fire Department responded to a natural gas leak, leading to a traffic advisory in the area.

According to FMPD, a daycare in the vicinity was evacuated as a precaution. The fire department indicated that it could take several hours to shut down and contain the gas main.

Evans Avenue is currently blocked from Colonial Boulevard to Winkler Avenue. 

Authorities advised drivers to seek alternate routes.
