I do utterly love all of these things and look forward to the various events over the summer 😀 Country Shows are just the best.
I love this aspect of British culture. The sheer amount of varied madness sitting quietly in garages and sheds across the UK is something that never fails to delight me.
A mini steam fair you say??
So many great days out
“It’ll do this all day”
All that is missing is James May
Suffolk?
We love hobbyists and eccentrics in Britain. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
Heaven.. Heaven.. Heaven..
I read that title as the intro to Little Britain
I’ve had a display of traction engines with living vans and trailers containing working equipment coming past my house the last few days. Next week I’ll see them all go back again. Madness in today’s world but a wonderful reminder that today’s madness was yesteryear’s bright modern future.
I love going to the Yesteryear in Scone. However I only go every few years. It’s always the same stuff lol.
There’s his murderer’s bell.
Fourteen men he killed. Fourteen.
is this at pontefract ?
year in year out there, same people same stuff.
I can honestly SMELL that’s warm grass from here I love summer
I love the quirkiness of the British countryside
So heard that in Tom Bakers voice lol
Listening to the audio while I read the comments. That engine has some rhythm!
The old lister steam engines, I spent many hours trying to crank these into life in my youth
This unlocked a deep childhood memory I had of going to something like this.
Damn!
Went to Brede Stationary Engine rally a few years ago. Really cool engines and machinery, and some amazingly interesting chaps to talk to. Highly recommended.
Tractorfest?
Looks good to me 😊
Reminds of elvaston castle steam rally in Derbyshire we used to go to as kids. Great times
Loved going to country shows as a kid.
Kerry Mucklowe would absolutely love this.
We used to have Jack Russel terrier who was fascinated by anything mechanical so I took him to the Dorset steam fair each year. When he got there he’d check out all of the exhibits. His favourites were the stationary steam engines and the vintage tractors. He even ended up on TV there by accident. We’d also take him to vintage tractor rally’s. (NB: I have no interest in steam stuff but Jack did that’s why I took him)
Never change Britain.
Heaven in my eyes. Shout out to a good lister. 🙂
What are you doing leaking our top secret military development facility?!?!
I love country shows.
You have old fellas running these, with a washing up bowl underneath, proud as punch. Usually, there’s also his wife nearby on a fold out chair with a box of sandwiches and a thermos.
