Lee Valley cycling experience … this one was scary. Started off learning how to use the bikes, using cleats and starting off on a slow lap. Keeping two cycle widths between the person in front was tough. Having to focus on cycling straight to take on the climb. It was 45 degrees steep. Once I got it, I got it. Went all guns blazing on my flying lap. No grazes. Happy days

  1. Awesome!! I was doing my track accreditation before covid and never been back since! The outdoor track is great for Crit style racing if you ever fancy that as well

  2. it is great, terrifying but great fun.

and great they do it, i mean you cant pay £40 to play at wembly or wimbledon

  3. For anyone wanting to give something like this a go: there’s also [Herne Hill velodrome](https://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/) in south London, the OG Olympic velodrome. Outdoors, and a bit bigger and less steep. And less than half the price than Lee Valley (+ bike hire is included in the prices).

There’s [track taster sessions](https://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/track) every Saturday afternoon, and a women’s specific taster session on the first Sunday afternoon of the month (so on tomorrow, if anyone is very keen).

Herne Hill is a brilliant little community. Lots going on, also off road cycling round the back, road bike sessions, yoga, strength training and a whole load of kids stuff.

  4. It’s awesome, even as an experienced road cyclist you can’t imagine what an experience this is. Just don’t stop pedaling!

  5. I love spin classes but I will never understand cyclists

  6. Was a cyclist killed there recently in a cycling accident?
