A murder investigation was launched by Limassol CID on Sunday after the dead body of a 45-year-old Greek Cypriot was found in the parking area of an apartment block in the Neapolis part of the city.
Police are believed to be questioning another Limassol man who had differences with the victim.
Speaking at the scene, Limassol CID chief Lefteris Kyriakou confirmed the death was the result of criminal activity while perpetrators are being sought.
He confirmed that the 45-year-old was known to the authorities and is thought to have lived in the block, owned by his family.
At 9.35 on Sunday morning police arrived at the scene after receiving information that a body had been seen behind a garage in Neapolis. The body was found by a relative who had gone looking for the 45-year-old.
The man had more than 10 stab wounds in several parts of his body.
State pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodox Orthodoxou are at the scene to carry out a post mortem.
