What’s your favourite supermarket coffee?

  1. Azeera but only if it’s on discount

But I actually haven’t drank coffee or tea for a month now but if I did that would of been my choice

  2. I bought a grinder & one bag of beans from a specialist coffee-roaster Mail order and became a coffee wanker overnight. It was so rich, dark and chocolatey I never went back.

  3. Made the switch to whole bean last year, it’s simply better and wouldn’t go back. I’ve a wee electric grinder the missus got me, one that that James Hoffman would disapprove of, that does the trick perfectly. That and a cheap 20 quid filter coffee machine and you’re set.

  4. I’d rather a cuppa tay luv thanks all the same

  5. I use a cafetiere (or french press) every morning for my coffee. Used to buy ground til the missus got me a bean grinder. Instant coffee is just not good (yes I’m a pure snob now)

I always just bought supermarket beans, some of the Taylors ones are nice, some of the Asda and Lidl ones are also nice, but recently had been gifted Warbler and Wren beans, Wrens Nest (blue), very nice! But found the green one, Little Bird, in Tesco and it’s been the nicest so far.

  6. Brady’s whole bean from Lidl was my go to but they have stopped it. Their new beans, Novo I think? Is decent too. It’s a medium roast and slightly dearer at £4 per 200g. Had decent experience with machu picchu from cafe direct too. I don’t think we have a great selection generally here in supermarkets. This is about 1/4 of the beans in a German supermarket from our trip last month.

  7. Me and my Mrs both agree on slumber jack in Lidl. Whole bean and grinding ourselves …and the coffee.

  8. Instant coffee is all shite, whether it’s the ground up frozen shite, Nespresso pods or whatever.

If you like coffee, buy only whole bean, a grinder and an aero press.

    Cheap setup.

When convinced, buy an espresso machine and the world opens up to you!

  9. I think any of the Tesco finest whole bean coffees are fantastic

  10. Answering the question asked rather than the one I want like everyone else: Tesco Italian Inspired ground coffee.

  11. I used to buy whatever bulk 2 n 1 instant coffee sticks was the cheapest in B&M etc, then I married a coffee snob and now it’s only Ethiopean Yirgacheffe whole coffee beans for me.

  12. Got a cheap Chinese pour over thing then added a Lidl filter holder/dripper. Got a Hario hand grinder. Do whole beans from wherever – started with some I brought back from a small roaster place in souther California last year… I’ll never get those again. Most recently have done some of the Belfast coffee beans, which are good. Otherwise Sainsbury’s or M and S beans, sometimes already ground.

I then got a gooseneck kettle for the pour over. Doing two cups takes 15 minutes in total, so it’s a bit of a pain. But it brings out a lot more of the taste of the coffee. Is it just that drippers fire the water through too quickly?

We’ve also got a Beko automatic coffee beans to cup machine that was about £100 on Amazon marketplace (usually now >£200), that just does espresso/longer ones, and has a former. I don’t drink any milk in coffee know as went off it.

And also an older Melitta dripper that was great, but haven’t used in ages. I have an Aeropress from way back but could never get into it.

  13. SuperValu Peruvian, comes in a white bag. You won’t look back

  14. Sainsburies own brand ground coffee is good, strong and dark roast, strengths 5 or 6. Wouldnt buy any other now that the Starbucks dark roast is so dear, but might need to reassess that!

In a mocha pot of course!

  15. Lidl Colombian risaralda no4.

Whack it through a big percolator and it gives me something I can taste for £3.19 a bag.

Although usually,it’s whatever is on offer!
