SS: The Pentagon intends to use Starship as a rapid transport vehicle. It’s first landing point would be Johnston Atoll, a bit south west of Hawaii. Birds or no birds, I’m sure the nation is going through with this insane plan. Flight time for supply missions between Vandenburg AFB, California and Johnston atoll is 30-40 minutes.
Not much of a bird sanctuary if youre regularly blasting it with the hot end of 100 ton spaceships, making sound loud enough to destroy concrete
Yeah I’d be worried about all the burning debris that’s gonna be landing in the area too.
It was previously a nuclear and biological test site. Some steel and methane occasionally getting blown up on it isn’t going to do much more harm. Better to test the landing there than somewhere else less contaminated.
