Kyiv reacts to critical minerals deal between Ukraine and US • FRANCE 24 English

Well, let’s bring you then the reaction from Ukraine. Here’s the Ukraine correspondent Galva Craig in Ke. Some pundits and commentators are not just sighing relief but congratulating the Ukrainian negotiating team. But reading on social media, Facebook is the preferred space for political debate for Ukrainians. You have some people criticizing that and reminding um readers and pundits that when Voimir Zalinski proposed sharing Ukraine’s natural resources with the United States and I stress it’s not just about um rare earth minerals. It’s also oil and gas but only new exploitations of them. Vladimir Zalinski had said in exchange for robust security guarantees. There are no robust security guarantees in this agreement. The only thing is that the Americans are saying that if they’ve got commercial interests invested in Ukraine, then obviously they’ve got a vested interest in uh Ukraine security. It’s certainly not what Voodimir Zalinski was promising to negotiate when he first put the idea forward. So that’s, you know, the main criticism. It’s not as bad as they feared, but it’s certainly not as good as they had originally hoped.

Following some initial reluctance, Ukraine has agreed to a minerals deal aimed at attracting long-term U.S. investment, amid efforts by Trump to significantly reduce America’s global security commitments. Gulliver Cragg reports from Kyiv, Ukraine.

  1. lol. Europeans are not happy with the deal. "it should be us having and getting the deal!!!!" too bad, you don't have what it takes. lol. go, make a deal with Mexico and Canada to get even!

  2. Mehhh….. in a couple years Trumpy McTrumpster will renegotiate whats been signed. Hell wake up one morning and realize it's not good enough.

  3. America gives more money to Ukraine than all OTHER COUNTRIES COMBINED…
America is tired of giving to others and getting nothing back…😂

  4. Chinese joke about peace talks – Russia gets territory, America gets resources, Ukraine gets glory. Glory to Ukraine!

    Ukraine lost the war.
    Ukraine pays the bill.

  5. Imagine selling out your country as well at being responsible for the loss of so much land and loss of lives. Zelensky drove that country off a cliff. How sad, Ukraine will be an American vassal state in perpetuity.

  6. Anyone who does not understand how positively huge this is for Ukraine is simply stupid. All you stupid people line up and post your stupid comments. I see some have already started.

  7. Trump's peace plan is now on track. All he needs to do is to make a deal with Putin, and then the US can start "mining, mining" those rare earth metals out of Ukraine. As for Zelenskyy, he can go back to doing comedy.

  8. Trump..the Chameleon must have conspired something against Russia with this move. Putin needs to be careful…even before the Victory Day.

  9. It takes 15yrs minimum for a mine to be established and fully running. They won't begin working until the war is over, so the deal is nothing.

  10. It bears mentioning that most of the rare earth and titanium deposits are in Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine which are now under Russian control. Zelensky has sold Ukranian assets that he cannot provide. It is as if Zelensky sold the Brooklyn bridge (a bridge that links Manhattan to Brooklyn in NYC, USA) to Donald Trump. Great job Zelensky!

  11. Every country in Europe should be giving us truckloads of gemstones for everything we have done for them.

  12. it's understandable that Z finally signed this. It's not at all a preferred outcome, and if anything, i do fear what will happen in the next couple years. I guess we'll see if Russia stops bombing (not holding breath–would be a miracle). The one ray of hope is that the entire freaking world knows this is not a great deal for Ukraine, but it's better than the US walking away completely and in ways that would effectively hand Putin a victory. So we all know, including governments around the world and future governtments, it was coerced/extorted. This may come into play later with international law? Not sure. It certainly won't help now, but even if it legally stands as recognized not under coercion, I do think once the Trump regime ends, hopefully sooner than later, future US government will provide some robust guarantees. That's a hopeful scenario, and I refuse to give up hope.

  13. From a prophetic standpoint, Russia will return, as mentioned in Daniel 11:29a, which means that it will again have military bases in the countries where it was before. Jesus also spoke of hearing "wars and the sounds of ongoing warfare" in Matthew 24:6, which refers to the exact same thing and, and added that it must happen, which indicates that it's related to the prophecy from the Old testament.

  14. Regarding the moral issue of helping Ukraine to rid their land of Russia: big deal 🤷🏼‍♂️
Regarding The Orange One's never ending quest for money: BIG DEAL 🤑

  15. Ukraine depopulation and denied all its main resources after all most of the fertile land and minerals are in the Donbass currently under Russia or have been annexed by Russia therefore Kev will never have control over. Kiev should have gone for peace Did they really think they can defeat Russia How stupid to believe Biden delusional propaganda

  16. Rofl. American brings up the conflict. The europ joins. Now the resouces which europ deeper ns on is in the hand of americsn control.

  17. Actually, one stone two birds. Europ is too. The Russian and Ukraine resouces fuel europ industrial. Now is in the hand of americsn control.
