Roundwood stocks in Sweden reached 9.5 million m3 as of 31 March 2025, a 15% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The total includes 3.4 million m3 of softwood sawlogs, 5.2 million m3 of pulpwood, and 1 million m3 of pulp chips. According to the Swedish Forest Agency, this total is consistent with the five-year average despite the annual growth.

Softwood sawlog stocks rose 4% compared to March 2024 but remained 4% below the average for 2020–2024. Pulpwood volumes climbed 19% year-on-year to 5.2 million m3. Within this category, softwood pulpwood, including spruce, amounted to just under 4 million m3, 15% higher than in 2024 but 4% lower than the five-year average.

Hardwood pulpwood stocks reached 1.2 million m3, marking a 39% increase over 2024 and 28% above the five-year average. Pulp chips saw the largest relative increase, up 34% compared to March 2024.

Stocks of roundwood for energy use stood at approximately 550 thousand m3. This volume reflects only the companies included in the Swedish Forest Agency’s survey, such as large forest industries, pulp producers, sawmills, and procurement organizations. The agency noted that a lower response rate in 2024 accounts for much of the reported increase, and that these figures are not yet considered official statistics, although publicly disclosed for relevance.
